George has served as the Executive Director at Journeys since November of 2015. As Executive Director George has oversight of the entire program at Journeys including persons supported, employees, and community relations. He has been employed at Journeys for more than 30 years. Prior to coming to Journeys, George worked as a Direct Support Staff and as Behavior Therapist at another agency. George has a M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology from MTSU and a M. Div. degree in Divinity from Vanderbilt University. He also currently is the pastor at Open Table Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). George is originally from South Fulton, TN, but has lived in Murfreesboro since coming here to attend graduate school in 1980.
Frances has been working at Journeys for 32 years. She graduated from MTSU in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After her graduation, Frances was hired as the Social Services Coordinator where she provided case management to the 36 individuals who attended the agency. In 2015, Frances was promoted to Assistant Director. Frances’ responsibilities include supervision of the case managers, oversight of the facility-based and supported employment program, quality assurance of policy and procedures, and the development and implementation of the agency’s transition plan from sheltered workshop to community-based services. Frances resides in Murfreesboro with her husband of 25 years, Benny. They have two children Megan, age 19, and Jacob, age 16.
Rachel started with Journeys as the secretary/receptionist in 1996. In 2000 she was promoted to the position of Human Resources Director. Rachel’s present responsibilities include hiring of staff, employment processing, health and wellness benefits, training and development of all employees, records management, and employee relations and retention. Rachel enjoys traveling and working in her yard. Rachel is a Georgia peach from Columbus, Georgia. Rachel and her husband Robert are very excited and busy planning their daughter Robin’s October wedding.
Jim is the Financial Director for Journeys and his duties involve oversight of all financial aspects of the agency including employee payroll, client personal funds, accounts payable and receivable, and the agency’s annual budget. Jim has worked as an accountant since 1995. He has worked for Baker & McKenzie, Morton’s Restaurant Group and the U.S. Army before coming to Journeys in 2015. Originally from Indiana, Jim now lives in Murfreesboro, TN, with his 4 dogs.
Program Services Director
Kyle is currently the Program Services Director with duties that include distributing various program related plans, providing oversight for TIMAS (the electronic data keeping system), coordinating the Incident Management program, and supervising the transportation department (which includes 40 vehicles and 7 van drivers). Prior to his current position, Kyle has worked at Journeys as a Direct Support Staff and as a Case Manager. Kyle and his wife Wendy have been married for six years and have two wonderful little boys Charlie and Andrew. Kyle is an avid sports fan and especially dedicated in following the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Community Day Director
Kat holds the position of Community Day Director at Journeys. She has worked for the agency since 2008 when she was hired as a Direct Support Staff in the residential program. Later she worked in, and then supervised, the community-based program. This program works with our clients to be independent throughout the community. Kat continues to oversee the community program as well as Journeys sheltered workshop. Kat was raised in Murfreesboro and continues to live here with her husband Ricky and her two children Darius, age 19, and Alexia, age 15. Kat’s hobbies include fishing, jewelry making, and traveling.
