Wendy Jacobs

Board Chair

 

Wendy has been on the board of Journeys since 2019.  She works for HCA as a test analyst of hospital software and has been in healthcare for more than 25 years.  She has lived in Tennessee her whole life and resides with her husband, Jake, of 3 years in Murfreesboro. They have two children, Shelby and Emmett.

 

 

Michael Busey

 Co-Chair

 

Michael is the agency owner of Michael Busey State Farm. His duties include oversight of all financial aspects of the agency, including employee payroll, marketing, recruiting, accounting, the annual budget and growth goals. Michael received a BS degree from Middle TN State University and RICP professional designation from the American College. He is currently attending the American College online and will finish the CLU and ChFC designations this year. Prior to college, Michael served in the Marines Corps achieving the rank of Sargent as communications chief of an infantry company. Michael has worked in insurance for more than 20 years. He started in claims and then assumed management and leadership positions before opening his agency. Michael is married and has two wonderful daughters. Michael is a Murfreesboro native. He enjoys running and a good pool side cook out.

Teb Batey

 Secretary/Treasurer

 

Teb Batey is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. After selling B&B Awards and Engraving—a partnership he started as a junior in high school—Teb pursued a degree in business administration from David Lipscomb University. Upon graduating, he returned to the family business, Batey’s Office Supply and Photo, to work full time and to complete a Master of Business Administration degree from MTSU.  Teb had the opportunity to run for Rutherford County Trustee in 2006 and continues to serve in this position today. He was recognized in 2014 as outstanding Trustee of the year for Tennessee. Teb serves as minister for the Milton Church of Christ and is on the boards of Barnabus Vision and Middle Tennessee Christian School. He has always loved farming and was named “Outstanding Beef Producer of the Year” in 1998 by the Tennessee Cattleman’s Association. He and wife, Kari, live on their family farm in the Milton Community, along with their son Houston, a high school senior, and their two daughters: Kate, a sophomore; and Taylor, a 7th grader. Teb and Kari were forever touched by the love of s and family and their great community when they lost their son, Paul, in 2014. Teb is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Rutherford. He is grateful for the support of the Rutherford County community and the blessings of living in this great place.

 

Trish Waldron

Voting Member

 

Trish has been a stay at home parent for the past 22 years raising her three sons, Noah, Eli, and Samuel.  She has been married to Steve for 27 years.  Trish grew up in Winchester, TN graduating from Franklin County High School in 1986.  She is a 1990 graduate of Lipscomb University with a degree in Accounting.  Being a stay at home parent has allowed her to spend time volunteering at her church, North Boulevard Church of Christ, and at her sons’ schools.  In addition to Journeys in Community Living, Trish has served on the boards of The Exchange Club Family Center, Borodash, and the Central Magnet PTO.

Ernest Burgess

Voting Member

 

Ernest is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. He has been married to Peggy Bryant Burgess for 60 years, and they have three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandson. Burgess has a Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee. Ernest retired as Senior Vice-President of Operations with National Healthcare Corporation (NHC) in 1995, and in 2006 was elected Rutherford County Mayor going on to serve in that capacity for 12 years. The Burgesses are active members of North Boulevard Church of Christ.

Erica Jones

 Voting Member

 

Erica Jones is a client service manager for Franklin Synergy Bank in Murfreesboro. She has been with FSB since 2016 and prior to that worked for First Tennessee Bank, Paul Mitchell the School, Midsouth Bank and Suntrust Bank, where her background in finance began in 1998. Jones moved to Nashville in 1997 to attend Trevecca Nazarene University and subsequently moved to Murfreesboro in 1999. Her parents are Willie and Tamela Sain. She has one sibling, Chasity and a daughter, Jayla.

 

 

Jodi Williamson

Jodi is the Director of Nursing at TwelveStone Health Partners (formerly Reeves-Sain) and has served the Long-Term Care division partnerships as a Nurse Consultant and customer service liaison for the past 7 years. Prior to TwelveStone, she was a Director of Nursing with National HealthCare for 17 years with much of that time at AdamsPlace.  Jodi grew up in Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from Ball State University in 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Jodi and her husband, Todd, moved to Murfreesboro in 1998. They have 4 children (Megan, Lauren, Connor & Jordon), a son-in-law (Zach), 1 grand-daughter, Callie and another grandchild on the way.

James Calder

 Voting Member

 

Dr. James Edgar Calder attended Murray State University, where he majored in elementary education. During his Junior year, Murray began offering a minor in “Mental Retardation,” now known as Intellectual Disability. Calder immediately selected this as his minor and continued his education at the University of Louisville, earning a master’s degree in Special Education. Calder went on to earn a degree in Special Education Administration from the University of Louisville. Finally, he attended the University of Alabama, where he earned a doctorate degree in Special Education and Learning Disabilities. Calder has held university-level teaching jobs at Hunting College, Alabama; Arkansas State University, Arkansas, and at MTSU, here in Murfreesboro, where he retired and later was named Professor Emeritus of the university. Calder has served on several volunteer boards for programs supporting those with disabilities and has been involved with the United Way for many years.  Now, as a retiree, Calder says that serving the community has become his passion: ‘I have tried to instill in my life the same passion (for serving the community) that I observed in my dad and tried to instill in my children … after all, it is our obligation to serve those within our community who are not so fortunate as we.”

Toddra Liddell

Toddra Liddell is Certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Toddra started her career as an Associate Nurse in 1994 at Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). She has demonstrated her dedication to nursing education with a stepwise approach in the advancement of her nursing career. She obtained her MSN in 2015 from Middle Tennessee State University. Toddra works as a nephrology nurse practitioner with adult dialysis patients. She was nominated and currently serves as co-chair elect for the Advanced Practice Standards Committee. Toddra plans to return to school to pursue a post-master’s certificate in psychiatry to further enhance her current position as a nephrology nurse practitioner. She is married to husband, They, of 23 years. They have two adult sons. She enjoys hiking, bike riding, walking, arts & crafts and reading.

Laura Vaught

 Voting Member

 

Laura Vaught is a Rutherford County native who grew up in the Lascassas community. She holds a J.D. with a business transactions concentration from the University of Tennessee College of Law and is licensed to practice law in Tennessee.  Laura earned a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Communications from Texas Tech University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Tennessee Tech University. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Agricultural Law Association and a 2020 graduate of Leadership Rutherford. Vaught joined Kious Rodgers Barger Holder & King following a two-year fellowship in the Governor’s Office. As a Governor’s Fellow, Laura served in the Department of Agriculture on agribusiness and rural development initiatives, including managing the Agriculture Enterprise Fund and supporting the Governor’s Rural Task Force. She also served in the Department of Environment and Conservation, where she worked in the Office of General Counsel and the Commissioner’s Office. Laura enjoys gardening, cooking and baking, reading, attending Sounds and Predators games, and traveling.

John Dietrich

John is a SVP of Commercial Lending with First National Bank of Middle Tennessee. John has been in the banking field for 29 years working in numerous roles pertaining to commercial, small business, and consumer lending. John graduated from UT-Knoxville in 1991 with a BS in Business Administration-Finance. He grew up in Murfreesboro having graduated from Riverdale High School. John is a 2007 Leadership Rutherford Graduate, Paul Harris Fellow, Eagle Scout, and has served in leadership roles with the Murfreesboro Noon Rotary Club, Rutherford Co. Heart Association, Jesse Beasley Animal Humane Foundation, Howard’s Hope, and the Business Education Partnership. John is married to wife Lisa, and has 3 daughters (Emma, Leah, and Emma Jean), and dog Sally.

Amanda Hill

 Voting Member

 

Amanda is a Certified Pharmacy Technician currently working as a Service Management Ambassador for HCA Healthcare, where she has been employed for 6 years. She has over 20 years of healthcare experience, with about 13 of those in Long Term Care Pharmacy. Amanda received her certification from the Tennessee Technology Center of Murfreesboro back in 2000. She has lived around Murfreesboro her entire life and resides with her husband, Tony, of 21 years. They have 2 teenagers, Colton and Keeley. Amanda also serves on HCA’s Caring for Community Committee.

Debbie Tiller

Voting Member

 

Debi Tiller is a long-time resident of Rutherford County and a native Tennessean. In her formative years, she lived in several different states across America. Early in her professional career she worked in the administration of real estate agencies. After 28 years, Debi retired from the Christy Houston Foundation of Murfreesboro, Tennessee where she served as the administrative manager for the daily operations. Debi has always enjoyed working in a volunteer capacity. Debi’s sister, Elaine Swann, was blessed to attend day services at Journey’s In Community Living, until her death in November 2014.Debi enjoys cooking and baking; reading; and designing home projects for her husband, David. Since retirement, travel is becoming a higher priority to keep up with the five children and ten grandchildren living across four states.
